Work through a clinical case

Start an available case from your classroom or course sequence. If a timed case asks for confirmation, read the limit before starting. Resuming an existing case does not create a second patient.

1. Read the scenario

Review the vignette, demographics, and available vital signs. These are generated for this attempt; another student may have a different instance of a variable case.

2. Talk to the simulated patient

Use the conversation to explore history, symptoms, and context. Some installations offer voice-related controls; they depend on course configuration, browser permissions, and available services.

The patient is simulated. Do not enter real patient information, and do not treat generated responses as medical advice.

3. Request and interpret investigations

Open requests and choose the appropriate examination or laboratory items. Review generated findings and lab results in their result views.

Available requests depend on the case. A result may be conditional on the scenario or prior actions. Not every diagnostic method is available in every course.

When the task includes an image and a written report, inspect the image, write/save your own report, and use the solution control only as instructed. Reading an image alone does not save a report.

Showing the solution locks further report editing. Save your interpretation first; do not reveal a solution just to test the button.

4. Record your clinical plan

Search and add diagnoses using the diagnosis catalog. Add prescriptions and relevant details through the treatment controls. Review what you have entered before finishing.

5. Handover and explicit completion

Write/save your handover, then confirm case completion. The finish view gathers the available information for review. A clinical evaluation vignette may be shown after completion.

Simply opening the finish page, closing the browser, or running out of account time is not proof of an explicitly completed sequence case.

Where enabled, provide stars/text feedback. A teacher may disable this feedback for a particular occurrence without removing handover or the evaluation vignette.

Review the completed-case timeline

The finish page includes the recorded action timeline for your completed case. Clinical actions appear first; generic browser interactions are in a collapsed technical section. Times and recorded request/results, conversation, diagnosis, prescription, report, handover, and feedback details help you review your work.

Historical details can be missing or marked as reconstructed/time-correlated rather than original snapshots. Do not treat a timestamp match as proof of an exact earlier input. Older cases may have no events. Clearing a chat does not remove already recorded event snapshots.

The header timer stops at completion; older cases without a reliable completion time can show --:--. Clicking the clock hides/shows its display but does not pause tracking or disable warnings/closure. Overtime is possible with visual/warning limits.

Continue your course

A completed sequence case shows a continuation card for the next unfinished activity or a return link when the course is complete. Use it rather than starting a separate patient from another route.

If a save or completion fails, keep the page open, read the error, and retry as directed. Check course progression and support if access has ended.
