Clinic Edge V2 Roadmap - What's Next in 2026

ยท 3 min read

Happy New Year! We're kicking off 2026 with exciting news: Clinic Edge V2 is coming, and we've secured funding from Heinrich Heine University to make it happen! ๐ŸŽ‰

New Partnership, New Possibilitiesโ€‹

We're thrilled to announce that Heinrich Heine University has committed funding to accelerate Clinic Edge development. This partnership validates our mission and opens doors to transformative new features that will reshape how medical students learn clinical reasoning.

What's Coming in V2โ€‹

๐Ÿค– Enhanced AI Patient Chatโ€‹

Our LLM-based patient conversations are getting a major upgrade! We're introducing custom-built scenarios that take you beyond traditional anamnesis into comprehensive clinical encounters, plus improved voice interactions for a more natural, hands-free experience that mirrors real patient consultations.

But here's what we're most excited about: Edit Mode. This game-changing feature lets both students and educators easily modify patient cases on the fly. Want to see how a different prompt changes the conversation? Curious about building your own case data? Edit Mode makes it simple to experiment, learn the mechanics of case creation, and understand how subtle changes in prompts dramatically alter patient interactions and clinical scenarios.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Expanded Diagnostic Optionsโ€‹

We're dramatically expanding the range of available diagnostic tests and procedures. From advanced imaging modalities to specialized lab panels, V2 will offer a comprehensive diagnostic toolkit that mirrors real-world clinical practice.

๐Ÿ“Š Custom Report Generation for Ultrasoundโ€‹

Create detailed, professional ultrasound reports directly within the platform! Students will practice documenting findings, interpreting images, and generating clinical reportsโ€”essential skills often overlooked in traditional education.

๐Ÿฅ Beyond Ob&Gynโ€‹

While we started in obstetrics and gynecology, 2026 marks our expansion across multiple specialties at HHU. We're partnering with departments throughout the university to bring Clinic Edge to internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and more. Each specialty will feature tailored cases, specialty-specific workflows, and authentic clinical scenarios.

Why This Mattersโ€‹

These aren't just featuresโ€”they're fundamental improvements to how medical education works. By combining cutting-edge AI with proven pedagogical approaches, we're creating learning experiences that were impossible just a few years ago.

Stay Tunedโ€‹

We'll be rolling out updates throughout the year, and we can't wait to share the journey with you. Keep an eye on this blog for feature announcements, beta testing opportunities, and behind-the-scenes development insights.

Here's to making 2026 the year clinical education takes a giant leap forward! ๐Ÿš€

Going Open Source & Academic Publication

ยท 2 min read

Today marks a significant milestone for Clinic Edge: we're officially open-sourcing our codebase under the MIT License and submitting our work for peer review! ๐ŸŽ“

Opening Our Doors to the Communityโ€‹

We believe great educational tools are built through collaboration, transparency, and shared knowledge. That's why we've made our entire codebase publicly available on GitHub under the permissive MIT License.

Check it out: github.com/jan-cieslik/clinic_edge

Why MIT?โ€‹

The MIT License gives you the freedom to use, modify, and distribute Clinic Edge for any purposeโ€”commercial or otherwise. Whether you're an educator wanting to customize the platform for your institution, a developer interested in contributing features, or a researcher building upon our work, you're welcome to do so with minimal restrictions.

From Code to Academiaโ€‹

Building Clinic Edge has been an incredible journey, and we're excited to share our insights, methodology, and results with the broader academic community. We've submitted our work as a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal, documenting:

  • Pedagogical approach: How we designed clinical cases to maximize learning outcomes
  • Technical architecture: Our decisions around system design, database structure, and user experience
  • Evaluation results: Real-world feedback and performance metrics from educators and students
  • Best practices: Lessons learned from developing an interactive clinical education platform

What This Means for Youโ€‹

For Educators: Feel confident that our platform is built on solid academic foundations and peer-reviewed methodology.

For Developers: Fork the repo, submit pull requests, and help us build something even better. Your contributions matter.

For Researchers: Build upon our work, cite our findings, and push the boundaries of clinical education technology.

For Institutions: Deploy and customize your own instance with full access to the source code.

Join the Movementโ€‹

Open source thrives on community participation. Whether you're fixing bugs, proposing features, improving documentation, or sharing your experiences, every contribution helps advance clinical education for everyone.

We're just getting started, and we can't wait to see what we'll build together! ๐Ÿš€
